Ida and Neil Down - Answered a Question by Gillen (03 Aug 08 15:13)

The smoking policies have been on the change continuously for the last two years with the areas where smoking is allowed being reduced all the time. MSC's general policy is "Special areas have been designated onboard ship for smokers." This wording allows them the opportunity to change their regulations whenever they wish. I think that you will find that the passenger reviews date from a while ago when most cruise companies were testing the waters as far as smoking was concerned and I am sure that you can feel reassured by what you have recently read. If you want confirmation of their policy why not ring them in London on 020 7092 2880. .... Ida .

Thank you for your reply. I still feel a bit unsure as the passenger comments I read were fairly recent. I have asked MSC to be specific but so far have no reply. Fenella.

My Visit to see the MS Emily Bronte

By Steve Fuller

Steve Fuller's blog

I was luck enough to be invited to see the new MS Emily Bronte. This was only a day trip but worth it all the same. An early start to the day travelling to Birmingham to be met by Riviera representatives and then a short flight to Dusseldorf followed by an hours transfer to where the ship was. I can see why River Cruises are very popular. Compared to an ocean Liner that are huge in size, River cruises give you a more intimate feel and are able to get into the heart of Cities. Some with excurs...
