Fred Olsen Cruises is about the only ones we have found like the Van Gogh.We sailed on that one and loved it.We have booked Black watch for june this year.Owned by Fred Olsen.
After Travelscope collapsed the Van Gogh continued to sail, sold by the Van Gogh Cruise Line Company. Van Gogh Cruise Line, which operates Van Goch, the 15,400-ton, 500-passenger ship, has closed 30th May 08 due to "massive increase in fuel prices and the devaluation of the pound to the euro". Van Gogh is to be chartered to the Russian market by company Metropolis Tur from June to October.
Transocean Cruises Ltd operates a ship called Marco Polo, 22,080-ton, 850-passenger vessel which is similar in size and style.
I cruised on Marco Polo three times before she was sold to Transocean Cruises. The cruises were good as the itineraries were unusual, the cabins spacious and the food plentiful. The ship is getting mixed reviews under its new owners. You could check the reviews on this site. Another small ship similar in style to Van Gogh, is the Ocean Majesty sailing out of Harwich. It's chartered to Page & Moy Holidays. I have no experience of this ship, so cannot advise on its merits, or otherwise. Happy cruising! Regards Jan .
