'Last minute deals' and 'cruises' are not words that go together! The best prices are often when the cruise first goes on sale 2 years out. Occassionally if there is inventory left they will introduce some special offers 3 weeks before sailing but then you will end out paying rediculous prices to get a last minute flight over to the Caribbean so I doubt if you end up saving anything at all, and could end up out of pocket. As Neil says, pick an itinerary you like and check the prices on a regular basis on the cruise lines website so you can track the rises and falls in price. When it gets to a level you are happy with buy it. Remember that RCI/Celebrity/Azamara honour price drops, so if you have paid for a cruise and you see the same category of cabin for sale at a lesser price you can switch to that costing.

Hi Jo. You are a little premature for "last minute deals" for 2009. What you should be considering at this stage are good deals based, not on the percentage off, that means nothing, but on the actual price of a cruise. My suggestion without naming names is to get e-mail offers in from several agents, very seldom now do the best offers come in written form through the post, study them and get a good idea as to the going rates. You are now in a position to make an informed choice knowing the price, area and company and possibly extras. The more you know the better you becomes at sussing out the real bargains as opposed to the 50% off rubbish. Regards .... Neil.

Fred To Enter The River Market

Although in reality it is not really totally river cruising as the ships have been sailing from a UK port – Dover or Southampton.German Waterways sails ...

Friendliest Countries in the World

By Zara Kelly

Zara Kelly's blog

The inspiration for this blog comes from some clients who are travelling to Sri Lanka on holiday this year. I visited the pearl in the Indian Ocean a few years ago, and was blown away by how friendly the country is happy to chat to strangers about spices through to cricket, a passion there!I think speaking to locals give you a real insight into the destination. Other than Sri Lanka, the friendliest place I have been to is Japan, where people will literally stop you in the street if you look ...
