We went on a black sea cruise on th e thomson "emerald" 1 year ago.we visited odessa, yalta and sevastopol and did not need a seperate visa.as we went on organised excursions perhaps the ships travel organisers took care of any visa requirements on a bulk basis.on the 14 day cruise we did not have a visa requirement for any of the ports visited.

Yes you need a visa, their Embassy located Ground Floor, 78 Kensington Park Road London W11 2PL Tel: (020) 7243 8923, Fax: (020) 7727 3567 They say 10 days if you submit in writing but 3 days in person and the cost is Tourist: £20 (single-entry); £35 (double-entry). A handling charge of £20 is also required from the Embassy for each application. Can't help with the info on the other ports some other contributor might oblige.

We have recently returned from the Calypso cruise to the Black Sea and you don't need to organise any visas yourself Thomson do it all for you!!! It was not even mentioned to us! Read my review over on the review section of this site. Istanbul was our favourite port...then Nessebar in Bulgaria, Sevastopol and Constanta the least favourite. It was interesting though and we are glad we went.

No visas are required but your passport is stamped prior to going ashore, you must take it with you ashore. There are some very interesting sites to visit and it is easy to get a taxi to take you to them. One tip is to know what you want to see and not let the driver dictate where he is going to take you. They are well known for going to places where they get a kick back and you will pay over the odds for visiting a place of little interest, so do your homework. The other scam to watch out for is when you go to a club/bar to make sure that you know the price of everything you want before ordering it as they can and do load the price, 500%/1000%, and you have not got a leg to stand on if you have not asked the price, remember most of the menus and price lists are in Russian Cyrillic which is incomprehensible to me and most westerners. ..... Neil.

Themed cruises all the way.

By Ruby Perkins

I had to smile this week when I read about Bonnie Tyler making a guest appearance on board ‘Oasis of the seas’ to help get passengers in the spirit to experience the Solar eclipse. Very clever Royal Caribbean, it’s almost as good as an episode of ‘Homes under the hammer’.Bonnie will be belting out her 80’s hit ‘Total eclipse of the heart’ alongside American rock dance band DNCE in the Aqua Theater about an hour before the eclipse next week. You ...

Abbi Varela's blog

After recently chatting to a regular customer of mine about the P&O cruise they had just returned from it saddened me that for the first time since I began booking their cruises three years ago this was the first time they had been really disappointed with the cruise.P&O as a cruise line had come highly recommended to them by friends and they were really excited at the prospect of sailing with them for the first time. They have cruised with Princess, with Cunard, with Royal Caribbean ...
