Fort Lauderdale in January is warm but a sweat shirt or cardigan (depending on your dress style) would be advisable especially for the evenings. The same applies to San Diego but apart from that light-weight clothes will be all you'll need for day wear and the usual dress styles for evening wear on board remembering that the ships are air conditioned and can seem cold at times. A really good time of year to go. Oh! Perhaps taking some light rainwear may be a good strategy ....Nei.

We did the canal in May 2005 and we found the weather on that ocassion a bit cloudy with ocassional rain showers but I have red reports of other finding it much warmer and drier than we did. So yes take something with you as some of the most spectacular views are when another ship passes you. We thought the most spectacular view was the west where you are starting from the east is not so great. The final word on the weather is this is area is in a rain forest environment and at some point in time you will be told how the canal uses the rain water to operate the locks. On our trip we received a certificate from the captain saying we had navigated the full length of the canal, in other words he certified us !

The only warm clothing you will need is for your trip to and from the airport in the UK. The weather in the area of the Panama Canal is hot all year roun.

We took the same cruise on Mercury in 2007. Fantastic cruise weather hot and humid. No warm clothes needed here except to fly out of cold Britain. The Canal passage itself is awesome a wonderful feat of Engineering. We were on deck most of the day and unfortunately i burnt my scalp. Should have worn a hat it was over 100% so please do not make the same mistake use plenty of sunscreen also.Staff on The Mercury are wonderful this was our second trip on her and although now quite an old ship standards had not slipped and Celebrity are still the best Cruise line .

Best Burger at Sea!

By Zara Kelly

Its been a few weeks since I have done a food blog, so I thought I would dedicate a blog to why there MUST be excellent burgers at sea!On a cruise you can never go hungry, food is plentiful but there is something satisfying about a good burger. I am no connoisseur, but my husband is. If ever I need to get into his good book, I know what to serve. I took him to an amazing restaurant for his 40th (see below!).I am a little bit of a food snob, but that all changed when I experienced Johnny Rocke...

Sailing like a Celebrity Part ...

By Molly McIntyre

Molly McIntyre's blog

As I was only on board for two nights we did not bother with any speciality dining on this occasion so we ate in the main dining room which was amazing. We had opted for Celebrity Select Dining which means we could choose when we wanted to go for dinner and could just turn up or you can pre-book a time on your planner. We pre-booked 6.45pm on both nights. On arrival at the dining room entrance we were escorted to a table towards the back of the restaurant and were immediately greeted by two l...

The Nightmare Of Packing For A Holiday !

By Camilla Edwards

Camilla Edwards's blog

Watching the Royal wedding this weekend, and looking at the lovely outfits, I started to think about what I am going to pack for my Azamara cruise next week. Choosing an outfit for any special occasion can be daunting, and time consuming, and a Royal Wedding must be stressful to say the least but packing, for a holiday is another thing altogether! The first cruise I ever went on was Fred Olsen Braemar sailing from Southampton. Packing for that was easy, just take everything you want as there i...
