As of Oct 2nd: Although, other luxury lines have indeed prohibited smoking in cabins and balconies, Silversea has no plans at this time to change our smoking policy and we do currently allow smoking in cabins, balconies, and designated areas in most bars and lounges, as well as the Humidor (where we also permit cigar smoking) but smoking is not permitted in any of our restaurant venues. Silversea are now being as "responsible" as most other cruise lines. They accept that there are smokers and they do not wish to upset these passengers but smoking is restricted to certain areas of they ship although these do include some tables in most bars and lounges and certain deck areas. They seem ambivalent about smoking in cabins and balconies. Cigar smoking is more restricted but a small room is set aside for those who want to be kippered albeit in comfort. I as I said before smoking is becoming less well accepted and over time will become more and more outlawed. I won't go into the full onslaught but .....Nei.

Thank you Silversea. I have recently cruised on Star Princes and was permitted to smoke in my cabin and balcony plus other designated areas of lounges/bars. I am looking to Silversea for my next cruise so am happy to have their positive reply. Smoking may be outlawed on many ships but, in my experience, there are still very many passengers who enjoy a pre or post dinner smoke.

Nice quote Albert but Mr or Mrs Cotterill please be aware that although the cabins in Silversea ships are larger than most the partitions are still the same thickness and smoke can and does permeate from one cabin to another particularly when they have adjoining doors. So it would be polite to your neighbours and to the cabin staff not to puff too much and too often in the confined space of your cabin. I think SS are being retarded in their approach but that is their affair.....Nei.

Thank Gawd our Cruise is not booked with Silversea, I cant understand Luxury cruises allowing passengers to stink of smoke its only since the pubs have outlawed smoking that I have started to go occasionally I would not before as I had to have shower and take my stinking clothes off after I had been there.

Well done Silversea for recongising much of the spin and tosh surrounding smokling and allowing those that wish to light up to continue to do so. My wife and I don't but similarly we don't want to see our freinds disreiminated against any further.

P&O offer some fantastic islands and resorts in the Caribbean and have done for a number of years now.
