Neil and Ida Down - Answered a Question by oconnell (23 Dec 07 14:19)

Hi Mrs O'Connell May I suggest that you look at the section (on the left of the page) marked "Life aboard" and also "The right ship" which will give you an insight into what to take and what to expect. If you have the time go to the library and get any copy of "The Berlitz Complete Guide to Cruising and Cruise Ships" or failing that " The Unofficial Guide to Cruising" In those books you will find loads about cruising. There are on most ships and all of the more modern ships good facilities for disabled people including specially prepared cabins and you will be made very welcome. Now, finally, I have searched for a "Pearl Harbour" but cannot find it in Barbados or indeed in the Caribbean. If you are referring to the one that was attacked by the Japanese and has a memorial sunken ship, the Arizona, then it is the one on Oahu, Hawaii. Cruise ships do go to Hawaii and visiting the Memorial is a very moving thing to do. You can ring the number at the top of the page and they will help you without any obligation. Oh yes and if you fly don't forget to tell the airline that you need a wheelchair as the walks at the airports can be very long if you are disabled and if you have a wheelchair it will go with you free of charge. Best Wishes Id.

No need to go to the library in this cold. All the contents of the Berlitz guide to cruising can be found on this site and nicely sectioned. Have a quick read it is certainly worth it.
