Neil and Ida Down - Answered a Question by Parkinson (02 Dec 07 11:43)

If I were you I would take the bull by the horns and have a 7 night cruise either from the UK or one of the Med. ports. That way if you feel you have made a bad choice it won't be too much of an ordeal and if you like it then you have opened up a new aspect of your life. So many cruises have get-togethers and group events and tours for single people similar to yourself, they even dine together. Some of the cruise lines have "gentlemen hosts" to escort and dance with single people. Life at sea is a great leveller and I would think it is well worth taking that initial plunge. Come on in the water's lovely....Id.

I cruised from Southampton to the Caribbean for 3 wks sept oct by myself for the 1st time, it was my 1st time travelling anywhere by myself & i enjoyed every minute & was never alone unless i felt the need. so many single people travel on cruises & it`s a very friendly place to be. I am 74 & disabled, doing another cruise in june 2008 I say "go for it" you`l enjoy.

We have been on many cruises that have had singles on our table or on nearby ones. Celebrity have the type of gentlemen hosts that the previous writer suggests.

I would point out that most cruise companies charge a lot more for single occupancy but fred Olsen have a large number of single cabins and they also have a very friendly feel to the ship.

Earning cash at sea by taking a selfie.

By Steve Fuller

Steve Fuller's blog

Selfies have become very popular and with social media like Face book and Instagram you can’t look though any news feed without seeing a selfie from someone.I often joke to my girlfriend, who happens to like a selfie. Well, she tells me that she takes load but only the odd couple are chosen to be posted. Yeah right I think! Anyway, joking with her I once said you should get a job involving selfies you’d be good at it. Low and behold would you believe it? One has only gone and beco...
