Neil and Ida Down - Answered a Question by Parkinson (02 Dec 07 11:43)

If I were you I would take the bull by the horns and have a 7 night cruise either from the UK or one of the Med. ports. That way if you feel you have made a bad choice it won't be too much of an ordeal and if you like it then you have opened up a new aspect of your life. So many cruises have get-togethers and group events and tours for single people similar to yourself, they even dine together. Some of the cruise lines have "gentlemen hosts" to escort and dance with single people. Life at sea is a great leveller and I would think it is well worth taking that initial plunge. Come on in the water's lovely....Id.

I cruised from Southampton to the Caribbean for 3 wks sept oct by myself for the 1st time, it was my 1st time travelling anywhere by myself & i enjoyed every minute & was never alone unless i felt the need. so many single people travel on cruises & it`s a very friendly place to be. I am 74 & disabled, doing another cruise in june 2008 I say "go for it" you`l enjoy.

We have been on many cruises that have had singles on our table or on nearby ones. Celebrity have the type of gentlemen hosts that the previous writer suggests.

I would point out that most cruise companies charge a lot more for single occupancy but fred Olsen have a large number of single cabins and they also have a very friendly feel to the ship.

Princess listen to customers

By Neil Holmes

Ok so you have been on five different ships from Southampton but a couple of those visit the same ports. It happens, there are only a certain amount of ports the ships can get into. However the shore excursions are always the same. Not any more.Princess Cruises will offer seven new shore excursions to guests sailing on Sapphire Princess, one of its Southampton based ships for this Spring and Summer. The new excursions are in addition to hundreds already on offer, which encompass a wide ran...

Your One Stop Shop -The Elbe

By Jill Johnson

Jill Johnson's blog

We tend to speak about the more popular Rivers such as the Rhine, Danube, & the Mekong etc but what the other lesser known ones, this week i’m going to talk about -The Elbe. The River rises in the Czech Republic and flows into Germany and empties into the North Sea at Cuxhaven which is near to Hamburg.Only one cruise and is offered by very few cruise lines which is a great shame, as it is a lovely itinerary- going from Magdeburg in Germany to Melnik in the Czech Republic or visa vers...

Hi all, hope you enjoyed my last blog from New Orleans, Time to get Rock’n and a Roll’n now in the home to Blues and the birthplace of Rock and Roll, with a bit of Elvis thrown in…I decided to head inland a little to explore Memphis. As I have quite an eclectic taste in music this place looks and by the sound of it sounds amazing too. , and I think Everybody loves a bit of Elvis, I remember the year he died (I know he still lives according to some), My uncle was living with ...
