We have cruised 3 times with P & O and have now booked the 4th! We are not big drinkers - usually had half carafe of white or red house wine with dinner - about £5 I think. Boddingtons about 2.50 a pint. G & T about pub price. A cocktail of the day, every day, same price wherever you are in the ship - about £2.50. Not as cheap as Spain, but definitely more enjoyable!! Fridge in cabin, so you can do your own drinks there too. Register credit card at beginning, and billed at the end,so easy to lose track of spending. I take clip for receipts as I do in daily life.

COLLIER - Answered a Question by Martin (30 Nov 07 18:08)

Hi, i have been on many cruises, and use all the facilities, i find the spa and pamper treatments slightly cheaper than we pay on the high street, so full massage would be 25.00 pounds nails and things a couple of pound cheaper than normal beauty shops, as for tours they vary from 30.00 pounds to 80.00 pounds depending on what it entails, sometimes you are cheaper doing your own thing by way of a taxi, i doubled up sometimes with another couple to make it cheaper there is always someone looking to share a taxi etc. alcohol is cheaper than the pubs and wine is prety cheap also. have a good trip. you could always contact p and o and ask what group will be running the beauty side then contact them direct for prices. x pa.

I have been on several cruises a with P&O In Jan I go to the far east on the Oriana for a month and have just been looking at the prices. most excurtions are about £25/35 for half day trips depending on how many hours the trip. All day trips are quite a lot more expensive and depends are what you would be doing. You will get a booklet with detailed information/ lenth of trip / walking or not entailed/ lunch inc. / and price well before your trip. On board they always give lovely slide shows to tell you all about them. Drinks are resonable I think but the outside Spa/ pools are free for all. Any hairdressing or beauty treatment is usually quite expensive. Email Angl jam9@aol.com if you need any more help. this will be my 11th cruise.

We have just completed 54 days in the Carrabean islands. On shore excurstions, you will find that at most ports the local 4-10 seater taxi cabs will offer the same trips and wait for you up to 6 hrs tour, including the beaches at half the price of the PO trips. PO trips range from £24 - £100 each dependent on the trip. If you like Catermarans then it is best to book the ships trips.

On Arcadia in October drinks were very reasonable - about half UK hotel price. e.g.Beer 96p per pint. Shore excursions range between £35 - £45 for a half day trip and about £75 for a full day per person. For a couple a local taxi is often cheaper and more flexible.

Hi, Martin We found the shore excursions very expensive and found that you are bound to find somebody that will share a taxi. e.t.c. Drinks aout the same as in local pub, but daily cocktails are the best buyIren.

We returned from a P & O cruise a few weeks ago on which we found the drinks in the bars and restaurants very reasonably priced in comparison to various American cruises we have been on before. Their shore excursions were quite well priced and the spa facilities seemed good although we did not use them ourselves. The ship was comfortable, the food very good and the crew and entertainments were first class. Overall good value for money.

Hi Martin, We went on P&O Arcadia in May this year, our first cruise, a special occasion wedding anniversary....wow, we loved it! To answer your questions....Excursions are a bit pricey, we only did one, to Venice which we found good value as it included a gondola ride/visit to glass factory & a church all on a vaporetto (Canal Bus)plus free time to do your own thing & make your own way back to the ship! It was around £78 for us both...& considering a gondola ride can cost between £40 - £50 EACH felt it was a good deal! However, we did hear a few moans & groans from others that did some of the other tours? So I think you have to pick & choose very carefully! The Croatian tours were a flop I heard! The spa we didn't use, but I believe the hydro pool is £50 for a whole day, but don't quote me on that! The drinks...we were very very surprised to find them very reasonable! At dinner a half carafe of house wine was £7. They do specials in the day too, sometimes bacardi breezers were £1.80! Cocktails of the day were fab at around £2.50 med £3.50 large, all yummy. Lager by the can around £1.80! And soft drinks i.e Coke around the same! A lot cheaper than the pubs around here I can tell you (Kent)! Hope you enjoy your crooze! And hope this is a help? Donn.

We have been cruising over 10 years and our experience of P&O lines in relation to drinks prices is very good. P&O are cheaper than RCL and Princess. P&O usually stock british beers like Boddies and Tetley Smooth and don't charge the earth like RCL. The prices are not much more the Pub prices in the UK.

Neil and Ida Down - Answered a Question by Martin (30 Nov 07 19:41)

You can find out about shore excursions on www. pocruises.com. The spa prices on most ships are quite high but the prices of drinks, particularly on P&O are at or below those you will find in good pubs. At most ports of call you can certainly better the cost of most excursions by diy but if is made much easier if you do as much planning as you can and read up literature and on the net about the ports and the sights. regards Id.
