What kind of holiday do you like? - these lines offer very different experiences. Do your homework - what facilities do the different boats have, what are the extra charges, what age do they mostly attract, do you love/hate dressing up in the evening? Read the reviews (you can identify the people who didn't do their homework!). Watch out for extra charges - extra charges for food and drink are always worth finding out about. One charge in particular is tips. Some include in the price, with some you choose what to give at the end of the trip (there's a lot of pressure with this one!) and some charge a set amount per day to your onboard account. Don't dismiss Cunard - We've just had 2 weeks on QE2 and thought it was fantastic value. They charge tips to the account but we did know how much in advance ($11 per person per day). However, there are no extra charges on this boat for food (I think there is in some restaurants on QM2) and the food is wonderful. If you realised you didn't like what you'd chosen it would be replaced without question. Tea & coffee available at all times & fruit juices & ice cream most of the day plus iced water at mealtimes in the dining room all free. We thought $3 for a bottle of water in the cabin (2 litres) was very reasonable. We don't drink a lot of alcohol but the wine ranged from $22 a bottle (to as high as you wanted!) & the general feeling was that prices were moderate. So - do your homework, pay your money and have a wonderful time.

You could go to the individual web sites or look through brochures or your travel agent.we had looked at thompson cruises first as it was shown on sky travel but we picked princess over them because by the time you added supplements for a cabin with a balcony there wasn't much difference in the prices and we though princess a bit more lavash than thompson we have no idea about cunard ships but would think that they are real luxury at a premium price.

I agree with Carberry's reply. Don't judge a cruise by its price. We did Thompson and you have to pay for waiter service at some meals (not a lot, but it all mounts up) Some have deals with certain agents. For example we booked a RCI cruise and had free parking and £50.00 cabin credit because teletext had a deal with RCI. We recently had free parking when departing from Harwich. Some also upgrade rooms etcat no extra cost. Thay may have deals for celebrations i.e. Fred Olsen are having a 'Celebrate 60' with them for 2008 and are offering all sorts of freebees for prople celebrating their 60th Birthday whilst on the cruise. However read past reviews from folk on this site. Some liners are better than others, some are just Butlins afloat (we have visited Butlins when the kids were small, nothing wrong then) but you get used to your luxury (now we are DINK's (Double income, no kid's) As Comapred to RCI, Thompson don't compete, but on initial brocure price RCI look expensive, but are not for the luxury. Now i've done my travel agent bit, I hope you have a smahing holiday when you decide. safe sailin.
