The onboard currency is the US dollar - but you only need cash for the casino, or for tips as everything is paid for on your sea card, which you pay by credit card. You will need euros for port visits or the local currency. Hope that help.

Hi, no money changes hands onboard. You open an account with them and receive a "credit card" and settle your bill at the end of your trip. Have a great time - and watch your drinks bill - it can mount up.

It is the dollar- but on board you use no cash- as above replies tell you, its all on the ships card- your door key card is your card which you use every time you buy anything- like in the shops or alcohol, at the end of the cruise you get a bill and pay however you like- dollars credit card, stirling- it is all billed in dollars and priced in dollars- but at the end you pay how you like.

Who the hell is Neil Down and why is it 'your job' to be rude to questioners and if you work for this site then my opinion of it has just gone down! However, Cowans reply was pretty stupid as the question was not'what currency do they use AROUND the Med', but ON BOARD around the Med and even though on-board accounts are usually settled at the end of the cruise in an agreed currency, a new-comer wouldn't necessarily know would they!

Fred Olsen & a few Guinness!

By Barbara Hopley

On 15th December we headed to Liverpool to join Fred Olsen Boudicca for annual Christmas Conference for 3 nights, the 1st night the ship stayed docked in port in Liverpool. This is a great city and the dock is right in the center opposite the Liver Building so within walking distance to the city. We didn’t have time to see Liverpool as we drove up in the morning leaving at 7am to arrive by 11am. Luckily the traffic was on our side so we arrived early. Myself & my colleague Teresa...

What value would you put on my customer service – 30? more? less? nothing?I’m not talking about gratuities/tips/service charges. I’m talking about what makes us stand out from our competitors? What makes you put your faith and trust in us, rather than one of the many other companies out there selling cruises? What is it that brings you back time upon time again? What do you look for when you are thinking of booking a cruise? The lowest price? We price our cruises very com...

By Alana Mills

Alana Mills's blog

I have blogged about this before as there have been an unacceptable number of deaths in Swimming pools on-board cruise ships and yet only Disney Cruise lines employed actual Life guards to monitor their pools.Well it looks like things are changing. At the end of December Royal Caribbean started advertising for Lifeguards on their ships. The Post Stated that candidates will need to perform rescue of Guests in danger of drowning and be vigilant to potential accidents. Will be trained to administ...
