We have recently sailed on Mercury from Vancouver to Alaska on 24th August, we booked a Conceirge Suite on Penthouse Deck and were very impressed. She is a lovely ship and we would rate food, entertainment, facilities as excellent. Majority of passengers are from USA, Canada and we spoke to only a couple from England.

We have been on Galaxy, which is a sister ship. We were on the same table as a Travel Agent and she said that Celebrity is 5* cruising for 4* prices. Good enough for me if Travel Agents are happy. We too are doing the same cruise as you, but in reverse, leaving Sydney 20.01.08.If Mercury is as good as Galaxy I will be happy. I know that there are a few couples from UK on the same cruise.

Cruised on Mercury some time ago from San Diego to Alaska. The vessel is fine, our only problems were with the staff from the Cruise Director (who summoned us to the Theatre for a grilling on tips) the Captain (who never once showed his face) to the entertainment crew (who managed two shows in 10 days). Remember it's American for Americans. All the facilities onboard are, however, first-rate.

We travelled on Mercury Dec 2006 (Panama Canal)and this year went back to NCL for Med cruise, very disappoined with NCL and do beleive that Celebrity has now the edge on NCL, taking in to account that Mercury is an old ship, it's services are excellent and very passenger orientated whereas NCL have become more money orientated, so My next cruise will be with Celebrity. I do believe that Mercury has had a refit, and refurbished, so I would not hesitate on going on Mercury again.

My wife and I have just returned from a cruise to Alaska on the Mercury. It is an excellent ship, staff are great and the food was a vast selection for all tastes, we had Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Mexican and of course the usual buffet style meals if you want or la carte if you so choose. The cabins were very clean and well maintained and there was a full entertainment programme on board, they also have classes for people who want to learn more about computers and different other classes to keep you occupied. Have a great holiday as we did. Neil Foran Exmouth. Devon.

I had also read those reviews and was concerned, but we sailed on Mercury in June this year to Alaska and found it was absolutely fine. Food and staff were great and we had the added bonus of being invited to dine with the Captain who was lovely.
