I Cruised to the Eastern Med in November 2005 on P&O's Oriana. We had some pretty foul weather through the Bay of Biscay, off the coast of Spain/Portugal, and also in the Med itself. Even a ship the size of Oriana did move about somewhat. However don't be put off, there is always the option of the wrist bands, which I saw quite a few people wearing, and they said they worked fine. Please don't be put off.

Hi Cheryl, Getting to the Med and back from Southampton is often a lumpy trip and even in the Med storms can occur particularly during spring, autumn and winter. Trouble is there are no hard and fast rules and it can be like a mill-pond or moving about a bit. As a rule of thumb, the larger the ship the less likely it is to rock and roll and middle ship and middle deck give you the smoothest ride. You can hit storms anywhere so be prepared and take the tablets (normally given out free) or pay for the highly effective injection if you feel that you are going to be affected. Sounds a bit gloomy doesn't it but it is seldom stormy for most of a cruise. Best of luck....Neil Dow.

If you choose a sizeable ship ( P&O or similar -50,00 tons minimum) you will have no problems.

Just got back from Southampton to Med cruise in a ship reputed to have no stabalisers. It got a bit rough in the Atlantic/Bay of Biscay but I found the Wrist Bands helped a lot. They are available from Chemists and on-board.
