Neil & Ida Down - Answered a Question by richards (06 Feb 09 20:33)

Since April 2008, and before that really, this ship has lead a very chequered life and the last I heard was that the line had stopped cruising until at least November 2008. I would suppose that you have sailed on her before or at least read the Berlitz resume of her status but I would approach any shipping line running her with a great deal of scepticism in this current financial climate. You, of course, must make your own mind up. ..... Neil.

MV Van Goch's whereabouts came up a week or two ago, she's currently impounded in Piraeus. For full details, either go back through these pages to questions asked on 25th January (currently somewhere around page 22) or click on the red "cruise Answers" above, then in the blue "Find a Question" box type Gadsby in the keywords space & hit "search". Gadsby is the name of the person who asked the question. Chris.

Why I never pre pay my gratuities

By Chris Halford

Chris Halford's blog

Almost every day I have conversations with customers around gratuities and if you are a first-time cruiser it can be confusing, and you may not be sure what the best etiquette is.Cruise lines would prefer I tell you to pre-pay your tips because its better value, or because it helps you budget for your trip, but personally I would rather be upfront and honest. Tipping, for me, is a personal thing and each person has their own ideas about what is the right thing to do. I used to always be an ad...

Is Smaller Better?

By Lesley Millward

Lesley Millward's blog

There are so many of the larger ships out there, and they do seem to be getting bigger and bigger don’t they! My lovely client Mr S asked me recently to give him a list of all the smaller ships that he could choose, because he isn’t a fan of the bigger ones. Point taken Mr S. I actually prefer smaller ships too.Of course, it is interesting to note what actually defines a smaller ship? To some people it would be about 2000 people, to others about 300. A smaller ship may not hav...
