Hi, am cruising on ocean village 2 in the caribbean in february 09. Is it warm enough on the nights inside and out or do you need a light jacket or jumper etc. Also have been looking at the prices of trips, are they reasonable, as someone said they were booked before the pound dropped, and are as cheap as they are on the islands .
Errrr, think that might have been me. Didn't say they were as cheap, just that the gap has closed a lot Only one I know was cheaper via the ship was the submarine on Aruba $99, the berth & ticket office are a couple of hundred yards from port gate. But we went snorkelling independently off a pirate ship over the same wreck that it visits & dont reckon the sub experience would've been worth the money in dollars, pounds or Zimbabwean groats. Pushed our luck with the pirate ship, goes at 3pm - hadn't booked, took the bus from the bus station almost opp port gate to Holiday Inn stop in "hotel area" (every ten minutes, ten minute trip, under 3 bucks return) & arrived with 15 mins to spare. Trip fully booked, but some no-shows. Great afternoon, pirate ship cost about $25 incl buckets of weak rum punch. Super beach, too, with all mod.cons., only spoilt, like most of the island, by an over-abundance of our transatlantic cousins. Did a few ships excursions this time - Catamaran/snorkel with turtles in Barbados, super, brilliantly organised & unobtrusively safe. Only drawback, inclusive unlimited soft drinks before the last of the 3 stops, then unlimited rum punch heading back. Well, after the unlimited weak rum punch in Aruba we knocked it back a bit. No, we knocked it back a lot. It was rather stronger than Aruba's version. Lets just say we were fortunate to have made several friends on the trip, and woke up in our cabin. Good value even tho we could possibly have done similar independently. -Quadbikes in Bonaire, great, but be wary, if you are thinkin of it give me a click & I'll explain. - Jeep trip in St Lucia, pretty decent, super waterfall swim. But sightseeing trips, apart from Caracus, skip the ship & haggle with the taxis & minibuses. Still cheaper & a lot more fun. Packed a jacket, only use I made of it was to decorate the back of the chair in the "Bistro" Scuse me a minute while I say Hi again to tightwad. Are you and shewho talking yet ? Have fun, all of you. Chris.
Forgot, we also did the Rhumrunner somewhere. You can guess the outcome. Chris.
Sorry to say that Thomas (cram them on) Cook is who we flew with In December 2008. Mind you that was from Gatwick so you may be lucky. By the way we enjoyed the cruise overall on OV2.
You aren't giving much away, apart from the fact your missus is not too happy! I am guessing here but I suspect you will be flying to Heraklion in Crete on a Thursday. A quick look at the schedules would suggest that you will be flying with Thomson Fly, departing 07:15 and arriving at 13:20 local time. Their short-haul aircraft are a bit 'cram them on' as well but I expect you will have persuaded the wife by then that it is all in a good cause!!
We're going on this cruise too.. we go on the 10th September. Hope you talk your better half over.. I'm sure a bit of retail therapy at M & S will do the job! Works every time for me! I'm sure we'll have a great time. Sheila.
