This was the first time that my wife and I have cruised. What an experience! Cruise ship was Azura evening dining in the Oriental Restaurant, faultless food and service. In fact the whole dining experience including the buffet was a real pleasure...  Read More >>

The Dream is great in size but the staff do a super job to keep you special. We stayed in an inside staterrom which was of an acceptable size with a virtual porthall, there was space under the bed to fit our suitcase...  Read More >>

Hi, I have booked a Baltic cruise on the Arcadia for June this year. P&O have now decided to tell us that they will be reducing the serving capacity in the buffet restaurant due to planned building work. Surely if we all booked the cruise expecting the full ship as advertised we should now be given the option to cancel with a full refund. The last time I sailed wirh P&O and the buffet restaurant was restricted it was absolute chaos with long queues and lack of seating to eat your meal. Any thoughts?

I would be careful here, P & O send a letter about works, the works begin 17 days earlier on cruise j203 to venice, that makes these works a 37 day contract. Does not sound like a small job to me. Chaos may reign here as its a madhouse in the Belvedre anyway. Also if it is reduced dining on the evening where are they all going to go, Meridien is generally full also. Back to back dining ? I would ask for your money back and pick another cruise a lot of money to pay to take the risk.

I see it only says "reduced" capacity so personally I wouldn't let it bother me. Some days you will be in port and you could always opt for room service..Carol

I can see no reason why they would allow you to cancel. They have not removed any of the advertised dining options, you can still eat in the buffet if you choose.

Why not eat in the main dining room for all meals?

Many thanks for your comment, not sure I'd want to eat 3 meals a day in a dining room that requires two sittings to feed everyone on board, and especially if it's a lovely warm day. Perhaps I'm just worried it will end in tears as did the last time this happened.

Bear in mind that for lunches in the MDR you are not obliged to have a 3 or 4 course lunch - there is usually a "lighter option" on the menu anyway (such as a baguette and side salad). You can eat there without wasting too much of your day, or feeling totally bloated afterwards. ...........Mike

You will also be able to eat up on deck. The restaurant during breakfast and lunch have open seating so there are not two separate sittings on those occasions. I really wouldn't worry and let it spoil the anticipation of your cruise.
