MSC  / MSC Preziosa /
MEDITERRANEAN

We have sailed with many of the cruise lines but thought we would try MSC Prezioza which was sailing from Venice. The embarkation procedure is organised chaos, it took hours to board. The drinks package is worth it, try the Allegresimo, 23 euros+15%, per...  Read More >>

Question

Hi, How much are drinks (beer, bottles of wine etc) on Island Escape ....I'm wondering if the AI package is worth it.
Also, wondering whether to pay more for a deck 5/6 or deck 7/8/9 outside cabin compared to a deck 3/4 outside cabin. Is it better to have a decent sized window than a couple of portholes? Opinions please.

weve just returned from colourful coasts canary cruise, and overall had a great holiday; we had previously upgraded to an outside cabin no. 6024 on deck 6 diamond deck; the cabins are small and dated, but clean. However we could only see through a small panel of glass in the centre of our window due to salt from the sea. When we enquired about the poor visibility, we were told it was due to the sea, time of year and the part of the world that we were sailing in.... What rubbish! must have been a mirage when we looked at other cruise ships in ports, with immaculate clear windows. Our advice, book an inside cabin. Also we took a look inside the deluxe and suite cabins. Don't bother!they are definately not worth it. On a positive note, the food, entertainment and excursions were good

Just an idea. If you do get an offer with the A.I. included don't ask for a bottle of wine or you will pay for it. (Unless you want a particular wine). Get the house wine by the glass, red, white and rose. Berwyn

Answer by Thomas, Llandudno (03 Nov 09 09:40) to a QUESTION by Ashworth (02 Nov 09 21:07)
Hi, For the 2nd half of the question, the outside standard cabins are all the same inside. We had a balcony on deck 9 last time and inside it was identical to the ones we saw on lower decks. So really not unless you want to be higher up nearer the food and entertainment. Some cabins on Deck 8 are on the small promenade deck and though you will have a window you will have people walking outside it. And the lifeboats hang off deck 9 obstructing views in some cabins. Most people really only want the outsides so they can see daylight and you're not in it that much apart from sleeping and washing Berwyn

Drinks prices broadly in line with UK pub prices - to make good use of a full-price package (£170pppw) you'd need to go some. Not worth it for most people, tho sometimes they offer at 1/2 price as an incentive to book a cruise. ............Chris

Just to add to Chris' answer, you can get it included in the price if you book early. Or at a discounted rate of about £50 when the "free" A.I. is gone before they put it up to full price. Last time aboard we would have only spent about £100 on drinks between 2 of us if we'd paid for them. Berwyn
