a QUESTION by Walker (19 Mar 10 11:11)
As you are aware Hawaii has a strict no gambling policy, any ship based there must not have a casino on board, and however there was only one ship that I am aware of that was affected. For visiting ships they are not allowed to have their casinos open whilst in the Hawaiian territorial waters but outside them there is not a problem. So if you are sailing from LA it takes 5 days to get there, and 5 days back the casino will be open during those times, but when you are sailing from island to island for 5 days then the casino remains closed. We did the La to Hawaii and back, and we also visited Hawaii again on a Tran’s pacific cruise from Auckland to Vancouver, and the casino was only closed during these times

They have not changed. Gambling of any kind is illegal in Hawaii. If you are sailing from the mainland US then casinos will be open on the transit, but not in Hawaiian waters. If you are sailing around the islands (NCL) there will be no casino or Bingo onboard at all.

Not true Wilba. We cruised to Hawaii last October on Golden Princess and there was definately a casino on the ship. As cruise fairy says it is open on the way to and from Hawaii but not while sailing between the islands.
