I recommend a train from Chiti to rome, drop the bags at the station left luggage book your coach to the airport in time and then see what time you have left for sightseeing. If you have a fair bit then get the open top buses and enjoy the day . the sights will remain with you and it would be a pity to waste a day in a Capital city.

Most Ships will have a tour that finishes at the airport...... If you are allowed to stay on board there is a free shuttle bus to the port gates. Not much to see there unless it is the weekend, when they may have a market/show on the beach..... Hope it is not like RCCL as you would be off the ship by 9.30, worth checking. Taxi to airport 150-200 euros so dont miss the coach. Have a great cruise.

You will be told of your time to get off the ship when you get your documents for disembarkation the time may vary but may not be until 3.30 -4.00pm unless you are going independantly. This is what has happened in the past to us. It makes for a great extra day onboard, so keep out the sun lotion. It is possible that you may get off early and they make take you off to rome with all your luggage and then drop you ff at the airport. You may be able to go into Civittavechia but it is a good 20 min walk from the ship. Rome itself is 1-1-1/2hrs drive away. I hope this goes some way to help
