Nicholson - Answered a Question by barkel (27 Jan 09 20:31)

It all depends on what Travel Company you have gone with. If you are with the same company, then you have every right to complain about this to the staff at reception onboard the ship.

BLYTH - Answered a Question by barkel (28 Jan 09 08:52)

It could be the couple who got free went to the desk at the airport on the day and asked for the option of flying there one week later and the airline agreed; or it might be as Nicholson says their Travel agent. We were due to fly out to the Caribbean in 2004 and hurricanes cancelled the first week we were offered to be flown out for week two but when we checked the forecast the 2nd week was to be worse than the first so the airline let us fly home on the ticket we would have been using in 15 days time so it might be the airline, did you fly with the same one ?

We went to the desk at airport and was told to phone ocean village and they told us to catch up with the ship would cost us around Ł700 our money. I spoke to ocean village several times that week but they couldnt help so we found online a flight catching the ship for just over Ł200 and it turned out to be the one carrying passengers for the cruise so we booked that one. when we were on the ship we found same thing happened to another couple but OV flew them out at no cost . no one at OV was really interested in what happened to us. Ive even wrote to head office but had no reply.

Did your package include airfare plus the cruise or did you arrange your own flights, if it was inclusive then I think you should discuss this with your travel agent then raise the issue with ABTA but you will need proof the others who missed out were on the flight, did you exchange addresses with anyone who got the free flight so you can get a written confrimation. If you did arrange your own flights then the problem is not OV's. The other option does your holiday insurance not cover the cost as it was due to bad waether you missed the outgoing flight is another idea to look at.

We need clarification here: did you book cruise only and arrange your own flights? or did you book it as a total fly cruise package with OV. If you did it seperately then any flight problems are down to you. If you booked a package then usually the Cruise line will do everything they can to get you there.

We booked this as a cruise and fly package, my sister and i both in our 60's booked our 1st cruise to go on Ocean Village for Feb 2008 and enjoyed so much booked to go back on OV in dec 2008 and thats when we missed the flight. it took us 3 hours instead orf the usual 65 mins to get to the airport. So i'm afraid the cruise line did not do everything to get us there.
