You don't have to fly with any airline. Why not book a cruise only & then book a flight with the airline & airport of YOUR choice. Your travel agent admitted to booking her own flights, so why don't you. Some of us have been doing this for years, for the very same reasons that you are unhappy with. Try a new travel agent.

Usually I try to avoid flying and sail from southampton (nearest port) whenever I can however I wanted to go on OV1 for 7days eastern med from Crete which leaves on a Thursday. I tried but sometimes one cannot get alternative flights unless you fly different dates and add 2 hotel nights !!

I agree you may not always get a flight on the day of your cruise & indeed most people would strongly recommend you always fly the day before, due to delays etc. We consider flying the day before as a bonus to our cruise, as how many times do you never really see your port of departure, apart from the drive from airport to ship & vice versa. If your only flying into European departure ports, even with a hotel overnight, it invariably still works out cheaper than the cruise package. I can't say the same for some long haul destinations, but I still book my own flights as I wish to choose whom I fly with & from which airport at a time to suit myself.

If you google Edinburgh or Glasgow Airport click Flight Information then Destinations - move your mouse over the map that appears, it will tell you every destination they fly to.

The cruise companies profit margin ? try and book your cruise with and without the air fair your savings would not that much if it is a charter flight, and considerable if they use schedule flights,Its asking to chose between Hung or Shot the schedule flights we have had long and short haul have meant hanging around airports for hours as we seem to get allocated seats which are off peak?More people are arranging there own flights and going cruise only if they can.

Sailing like a Celebrity Part ...

By Molly McIntyre

As I was only on board for two nights we did not bother with any speciality dining on this occasion so we ate in the main dining room which was amazing. We had opted for Celebrity Select Dining which means we could choose when we wanted to go for dinner and could just turn up or you can pre-book a time on your planner. We pre-booked 6.45pm on both nights. On arrival at the dining room entrance we were escorted to a table towards the back of the restaurant and were immediately greeted by two l...

A Right Royal week of Celebrations

By Betsy Davies

Betsy Davies's blog

Well this week my Facebook has been full of Royal Caribbean’s ‘Independence of the Seas’ as she returned to Southampton after her 40 million dollar refurbishment. She looks amazing and the added extras , Laser Tag , a Waterpark , bungee trampolines as well as a couple of new dining venues I’m sure will help her keep the title of Britain’s favorite cruise ship !!!In the world of the Royal’s we have a big day this week in the UK as Prince Harry and Meghan get...

Brad Smith's blog

I like to do a little bit of research before posting my blog and it means I am up to date on all things cruise. Seabourn, the 6-star luxury cruise line will be docking in GREAT YARMOUTH!The first of TWO visits by the luxury cruise line will be happening when the Seabourn Quest will be docked in the Norfolk seaside town on the 30th June 2...
