We have just returned from Med Rennaisance on Thomson Spirit and did "Nice, Monaca and Monte Carlo", "Florence and Pisa" and "Rome On Your Own". We really enjoyed the first of these but there was a lot of walking. The second was also wonderful but more walking. By the time we got to Rome, we were exhausted. We are in our 40s and both quite fit. The temperature being in the 30s didn't help. If you aren't used to walking too far, make sure you know what you are letting yourself in for. We would probably still do the same excursions again, but maybe do some training before we went on the cruise in preparation :O) In Olbia, Sardinia we took a taxi from the town to a beautiful beach. This did cost 25 Euros each way but the beach was spectacular. We tried to find a taxi in Menorca to do similar, but couldn't find one anywhere!! We spent the day sun-bathing on the ship instead :O) .

Hi there, glad to hear you had a good time. It is not possible to view the excersions on the Thomson website anymore. If you can remember how much did each of the three trips that you did cost. Do you know whether there are people waiting in the port to offer optional excersions to these places. Many thanks Melanie .
