I am a little bemused by this, the only thing I can think of is that sometimes tour groups assemble in the theatre and sometimes on the quayside. I can think of no other explanation. If I am right then there is no difference between the tours apart from that. I would be interested to hear if anyone has a different viewpoint. ..... Neil.

.......or the difference between ship-organised excursions ("on the ship") and those negotiated independently by passengers with local minibuses/taxis ("off the ship"). which are not organised by Royal Caribb. Presumably the website wasnt Royal Caribb's own! In this case, click on the reviews page, select all ships/western europe, and see what other travellers advise at the various ports of call. If I read you wrong and you're a seasoned cruiser, apologies for teaching grandma etc. Chris .

No need for any apology, Chris, I don't know what is meant by the question and at any rate I'm still learning like everyone else so we can put Grandma back in her box. ........Neil.

Apology was to Mr/Mrs Young, in case I'd misunderstood (errr, in case we'd all misunderstood) the question. Wasn't for you, Neil - I think you've probably been round the block a time or two. Chris.

I have cruised with Royal Caribbean and have also been on the website looking at excursions for our RCI cruise in July this year. I have never seen any mention of this and am slightly confused. All the excusions say is where, when, how long and how much! I would be interested in more information about this thanks.
