We've been on cruises to the Caribbean three times and I must say that there really isn't that much of any historical interest to see. It is mainly a winter sunshine/beach type holiday. As there are four of you, you are probably better booking a trip with one of the hundreds of taxi drivers waiting at the quayside. Always barter, and always look at the taxi and make sure it's road worthy. I would say you'll save money doing this and enjoy it more. Use the Princess brochure to give yourselves ideas of what you'd like to do. Exceptions are Jamaica and Venezuela and Trinidad. These areas can be a bit more threatening and so I would take an organised tour here.

They will give you a colour brouchure of shore excursions. If there is something you really want to do, book it on line, you can always cancel it later when you get the brochure or even when you go on board. some excursions such as helicopter and yaucht trips often fill up fast. You are going on one of the warmest, nicest ships. I have spent 9 weeks of my life on Sea Princess and I love her. You will have a wonderfull time. PS. remember that you can often do many trips under your own steam by taxi and it can work out a lot cheaper. Do research on this site and put into gogle ' advice on trips in caribbean' there are a couple of excellent sites with advice on prices excursions, what to do etc. Do that reserch before your brochure comes through then choose.

We are going to the caribbean on the sea princess in november of this year and have just received notification that they don't now issue a brochure (as I suppose they are trying to save the planet etc) you have to look up the excursions on the internet - not sure what you do if you don't have the internet however!!

Cruising is for old folk?!?

By Lee Johnson

Actually no it isnt…According to figures released by CLIA (Cruise Lines International Association) The average age of cruise passengers overall has fallen to its lowest in 20 years, and a record 1.7 million UK holidaymakers opted to take to the seas in 2016. So more people are cruising and it is attracting a younger audience.I was on board the Celebrity Eclipse in May for a 2 night cruise and there was definitely a lot of under 40s on that including Hen parties, which tends to be the ...

What is a Christmas Cruise like?

By Des Morgan

Des Morgan's blog

Hello readers,Well what is a Christmas cruise like? having worked on board Princess cruises for 11 years and been at sea for Christmas for 8 of those, I can tell you first hand this is a cruise for everyone! The ships I worked on were always beautifully decorated with lots of Christmas trees and garlands throughout the ship. The days leading up to Christmas a whole gang of people from shore would come on and transform the ship, to give it a really magical feeling. Baubles of every colour , tr...
