Already answered your question about Livorno. But instead of seeing the town in Alghero, do the boat trip. If you get Marco, you will have a wonderful time. When coming back you sail past your ship and they normally have you singing "We we will rock you" Even the captain looks down and you think "God they will not let us back on board! But they do! Cannot wait till we do this one again! But again, everyone to their own thing! Have a wonderful time!

Livorno is OK for shopping but many shops are shut on mondays. P and O provide a shuttle bus so just go for a wander and enjoy the ambience of the town.

We were in Pisa in March and consider the walled town of Lucca to be well worth a visit and can be easily reached by train from Livorno, changing at Pisa. There are frequent trains from Livorno to Pisa and the service to Lucca runs every 30 minutes from Pisa and takes 30 minutes. The station is just outside the town walls and it is only a short walk from the station to one of the main town gates. Rail fares are cheap but remember to validate your ticket for travel by inserting it into the yellow machine on the platform before boarding the train otherwise you could get a hefty fine. We are calling into Livorno in July and this is what we plan to do ourselves.

We had also been to both Florence and Pisa before so we booked a scenic excursion ending at an organic farm to sample their poroduce including wine--a super trip.

Could not agree more. The trip to the organic farm after the sightseeing was really good. We are going to do this again in September. Well worth it! The little snacks and wine were wonderful and you can purchase lots of differant things to bring home.
