Corfu - 30min stroll into town. I recommend Pizza Petes for lunch on the headland - rubbish name but great food and views; Dubrovnik another pleasant stroll into town -walk the walls, and Katakolon you are right in town - which is 2 small streets. Either hire a car (I can recommend a chap if you want) or take the train out to Olympia.
Thankyou for that.
Yes, Corfu is not too far to walk. Dubrovnik is a little further to walk to the old city and not too well signposted, but we got there OK. OV did run a shuttle bus from the port to the old city for £6 return which is another option and still cheaper than the full tour. We did the OV tour to Olympia and glad we did - got a good guide.
This is a lot of walking - 30 mins to old city and then only walking within the walls and around it before another 30 min walk back. take the shuttle !!!
Just come back last week from this cruise. Had a lovely time. Would definately
suggest you do Dubrovnik on your own. It is not large and you can get local
transport from ship v easily. We took a trip & it was really a waste of money.
Dubrovnik was SO busy we could not hear a word the guide said! I think we were
all pleased when we were left on our own!
We thought it was worth taking the OV trip for Corfu. Easier to see the more
scenic places. Bela Visa was superb.
Katakalon is really just a litt;e village. Very pretty. Most of us just walked
ashore & had a drink by the water. Quite a lot of touristy shops etc.If you
want to see anything the trip would prob be better although there is a local
bus service handy & taxis but think it would be easy to be ripped off on later.
PS We had a really long wait in Crete for our luggage (approx 1 & half hours!)on arrival
Excellent return luggage left us evening before & we did not see it again til
