Do your homework and plan ahead and I would suggest if you really want to do this that you book about 6 weeks ahead. Most good companies will allow you to cancel your hire if you let them know within a reasonable time before (it will be in the contract) and the cost of hire can be significantly lower than doing it on the day. The unfortunate thing is that the charge will be quite high just for the day and for another 50% more you could have the car for a week. It is worth noting that the basic price they offer will include an excess of up to about £2000 in the event of an accident and in order to get rid of this another small amount (£15 probably) will have to be paid at the rental office. Please remember that the standard of driving is pathetic in many Mediterranean countries and accidents and scares are par for the course. Having said all that it is great to be able to go when and where you want at your own pace but don’t miss the boat …allow more than enough time to return the car......Nei.

P&O Cruises recently announced that that would be building a 9th ship to join the P&O Fleet in 2020. This comes only two years after the Britannia was released and I am pleased to say that after quite a few problems she has become a firm favourite in the P&O Fleet.Hopefully P&O will take forward the feedback on Britannia but we are yet to see what this new ship will look like; all P&O have said is that she will be 180,000 Gross tons and carry 5,200 Guests. This is the larg...
