Find Your Cruise
Well JamesB This is a question that comes up regularly so you will find many answers under "Excursions" above in “Find a Question” but....I would suggest that you look at the Island's Web pages to see what is the best there, look at the tours being offered by the ship and make a note of the best there and then work out what you would like to see. When you step off the ship you will have a choice of taxis all vying for your trade so bargain for a good price and see what you want to see using the price of the ship's tours as a guide to get bargains. The one port to be really careful about is Montego Bay. This is a very beautiful but dangerous island and you should not hire a vehicle/taxi from outside of the dock gates. Inside they are registered and ok but outside they are very dodgy. Unfortunately there are many people there who have little money and feel that what you have they should have which is a shame because it is so wonderful there. I know A of N will give you further information which you should also follow. ... Neil.
I agree about Montego Bay-we went on a tour to Dunns River Falls but my husband had only taken two steps off the tourbus when he was approached by 3 different people and offered drugs! And the people in Jamaica are very"in your face" asking for tips-totally blatently. I was glad that I took an official tour for once!
Hi JamesB - I will also be on this cruise - flying from Manchester. I have looked at the excursions offered by Island Cruises on their website and the only ones that appeal to me at the moment are the Pitons Cruise in St. Lucia, the railway in St. Kitts and the Martha Brae river rafting in Jamaica. I understand that trips like the St. Kitts railway is always oversubscribed by cruises so I have booked these three through Island Cruises in advance. Yes they see a little on the expensive side but as these are the only definite trips I will go on I want to be safe rather than sorry. See you on board hopefully. Regards Marie.
Please google and type 'boards cruise ports call' - click on the the first result will give you all the info under the appropriate PORTS section on the page under the appropriate island.
