Q: Can anyone give details of ballroom/latindance opportunities on Thompson ships. Do they have dance hosts, giving daily lessons, followed by evening dance opportunities? If not can anyon offer any suggestions. We are not professionals or experts. We have been learning for about a year and would like chance to practice/improve. 4 answers

Most Thomson cruises do not have any dancing lessons and probably the only one that will do some will be in the canaries from November 09 to April 2010 on the Island Escape. Nothing in the summer season for this year as far as I am aware. The dancing on the Escape will be latin and not ballroom - on the Transatlantic on the Destiny last year ( dec 08 ) there were some ballroom lessons but as you have been dancing for a year then they would not have been suitable as they were very much beginners classes. There are no dance hosts as such and limited / no evening dance opportunities.

I note that your question refers to Thomson Cruises. My wife and I are very keen Ballroom and Latin dancers. We tried a Thomson 'Latin Dance' cruise and it was a disaster. Forget it. We have been more than happy with the dancing on P&O and Cunard. Indeed, look at my Arcadia review dated 7 June this year. The dance hosts were outstanding. Happy Cha Cha. Richard
