Q: Is it possible to buy duty free drinks on Oriana to take home on ones return to Southampton? I have been able to do this in previous cruises on Aurora but I wasn't able to when I went on Ventura in April. Has the policy changed? 5 answers

I would say at a guess that if the ship did not leave EU waters or call at a port, like Gibraltar, outside the EU then you would not be able to buy "Duty Free" goods. Purely a guess. ......Neil

When we did a 4 day "test" on Independence last month to Ireland, they were adding on UK VAT in all the shops because we were not leaving EU waters....Brian

I have always bought duty free on the P&O boats either to take home or drink in your cabin. The only time they don't sell you bottles (or cartons of cigarettes) is when you do a mini cruise as they can't sort the billing out in a short cruise! As far as I know the policy has not changed, Regards Lyn

I bought soem duty free on Ventura in March and you could buy it on Aurora last month. Did you go to a port outside the EU, eg Gibraltar, Norway, as I believe this is a requirement for the ship to sell duty free...Brian
