Q: We are sailing 28th august 2010 22nts S/ton, NY,Canada, NY back toS/ton. on QM2 our first time on this ship. We have read many favourable reports and we are really looking forward to the cruise. On previous cruises with P&O we were able to purchase duty free cigarettes and booze and have these delivered to our cabin the next day. We have been told that on Cunard we will not be allowed these purchases until the end of our voyage which will be 22 days. Is this accurate and also is it worth buying on board credit before you sail? 4 answers

Seems to be a lot of us going on this cruise so we will bump into each other. I cannot see any reason why you can't buy cigs and booze during the trip unless they feel it would affect bar takings. I would ring Cunard who are very helpful or if you have gone through an agent they should know or enquire for you. As to credit as everything is billed to your credit card which you will have to pre-register. All as I do is to clear my balance before the cruise or make sure that I have enough to settle what in our case is a LARGE BIll when I get home. You will get an account sheet of what you spent half way through the cruise so there should be no shocks. My wife appears to frequent the cocktail bar as much as my man-servant!! It is our first time on this ship having been on the QE2 and Victoria in the past, both excellent cruises and well looked after by Cunard. See you September.

Thank you for Mr Bradbury for your response hope to see you on board. Apparently we can purchase cigs at the frequent bars but only receive the duty free supply at the end of the voyage, perhaps I will get him to give up before the hols. We have purchased 1,000 dollars OBC at a cost of £494 this is a very good exchange rate of $2.02 this is added to our onboard account & will help pay for those extra cocktails.

Thank you bond exeter for your advice re- breaking cruise up in three stages it saves having to take 22 days supply of cigarettes for my husband. We have a sheltered balcony cabin mid port side deck 6 have read a review that these cabins can be noisy from the promenade deck strollers and keep fit folk, is this true? We are very excited and cannot wait for our August voyage.
