Q: We have booked a cruise on Diamond Princess for November 2011, from Singapore to Sydney. Please can someone tell me how much we will have to pay for drinks (soft, alcoholic and tea/coffee) - we're new to cruising and want to get some idea what our budget should be! 3 answers

The 'cost' is also affected by the exchange rate at the time os settlement of account, as you pay in dollars on board Princess.

If you scroll down to the Drink Prices menu on the right of your question below 2012 Cruises, you will get an idea of the prices, but you need to, as Watson has said, add 15% on to each one. There are soda cards and coffee cards to be bought on the ship, but no Drink Packages unless you have 30 people in your group. Some bars may have half price cocktails and drinks from 8.30 in the evening, but you will have to check onboard. Tea and Coffee can be ordered through room service to have in your cabin.

We sailed DP 18month ago, drinks prices were roughly what you would pay in a night club in the UK, plus the mandatory 15% tax on all drinks purchased - smokers used the a bar near the theatre, unless this has changed. If we were early for the theatre we would pop in (although it did get crowded at times and a bit smokie. WC were quite close to the bar - may save a bit of time if you are in a bit of a rush! This bar area was very small and a bit dark, but handy for a pre show drink - the Cruise Director James (from Wales) as did other members of staff, used this bar when not on stage/duty- Maria Chris in this bar was really very pleasant. (TV all american sport - so it may have been called the sports bar/Churchills) not sure on the name, the ship is really nice, hope you enjoy your cruise
