Q: Hi. We have just booked our 1st cruise with P&O but rather confused about the whole drinks issues (the non-alcoholic type). With RC we bought a drinks package where you had a reusable cup at the state room on arrival, and you could fill it up at any drinks station when showing your room card.
Do P&O do this deal? We also drink alot of squash drinks, is water free on board? or is the tap water safe to drink?
Thanks for anybodys help as buying drinks could get rather expensive

For 30 pound you can purchase 20 large soft drinks. If you ask for small ones you are allowed 40 as they only mark one side of your card. For an extra 10 pound you will also get 20 ice creams, so this is your best option.

P and O have put the price of their soft drinks package up to £32.50 for 20 large sodas. We were on Ventura last month. You can also buy soft drinks/water and even alcohol ashore and take it on board P and O ships. You can always get iced water from any of the bars and there is no problem with the taste if you drink it straight away. It is also possible to get apple/orange/pineapple juice free from the buffet until noon.

There is a drinks package available for £30 for 20 pint size glasses of your chossen soft drink, you will get a card stamped each time you use it and a free container type flask. for another £10 you can also add I think it was 10 ice cream servings. Tap water safe to drink did find a slight taste to it though, you can also get free iced water from the poolside bars just ask the bar tender, has stated you can also use the dispensers in the buffet's. You can also have it delivered to your cabin if I remember right a 1 1/2 litre bottle was £1.50 not unreasonable compared to other cruise line prices. enjoy your cruise.

Having recently returned from a P&O cruise. I can't remember seeing any offers for a soft drinks package. I did however have six 1.5 litre bottles of water delivered to the cabin. cost was about £9.25, not exactly cheap. I did use the on tap cabin water for coffee, but must admit that there did seem, to me, to be a slight taste with the water if drunk straight from the tap. Like one or two others have said by taking your own bottles of squash on board with you, and making up your own drinks in your cabin, you should be able to save quite a bit...Bob

Hi We have just returned from a P&O cruise and there is no soft drinks package and the only place water is free is from the dispenser in the buffet and in set dining where your water will fill your glass You will have to pay for all soft drinks approx price is about £1.80 in all bars for coke etc soda and lime around £1.20. A little tip is keep a few water bottles and fill them in the buffet although this is frowned upon for supposedly hygiene (ie profit) reasons I wouldnt drink tap water(although we used it for coffee) as I would not be sure of its origin as I assume the ship tops up in port. The tap water on our ship did seem to have a high chlorine content. Hope that helps

As our local water company informed us, if the chlorine taste in water seems too strong, leave it in the fridge for an hour, and the chlorine will dissipate. You fill bottles in your own bathroom....it's the same water wherever you are, but can never run cold. On the whole, the water will be made on board, and will be purer than some water you drink in the UK....I've never noticed a taste, and we have some of the purest water in the UK, so I can tell the difference. I thought that P&O did a package of 20 soft drinks?...Jo.

Do not place any credance on what this cruiser(Gratton) tells you.Check out this agenderists travesty of a"review"about Azura before considering his "advice".

The tap water in the cabin is the same as the water in the buffet dispenser and the jugs in the MDR. It is all safe to drink. In fact, we were told that it is safer than bottled water, being more thoroughly tested and controlled. You could take bottles of squash on board with you and make up your own drinks in the cabin to take to your sunbed.

The P&O ships desalinate their own water. It is not topped up in port. It is quite safe to drink, though I find it has a 'taste' to it. I have heard people say that if you fill up a bottle and put it in your fridge, once chilled there is no 'taste'. The reason that P&O do not allow you to fill bottles at the dispenser in the buffet, is because you could use a bottle that your mouth has been around, therefore risking the spread of infection if it touches the tap. Quite right too! We always buy large bottles of water on the ship for use in the cabin. If you don't want to pay the ships price then get it when in port.
