Hi there. We are booked on an 11 night cruise leaving Southampton 7 Nov 2010 and having never been on a P&O cruise before, I wondered if anyone could advise about dress code for a cruise of this length and whether ballgowns would be over the top for this kind of cruise. I just love dressing up!

Hi, we are going on Arcadia this Sunday on a twelve night cruise to The Canaries and have been told we have three formal nights, these consist of men in either dinner suits or dark lounge suits and ladies in long or cocktail dresses, two nights are semi formal, men to have a jacket or suit and ladies probably a posh frock or even trousers, the other nights dress will be smart casual, i have been with P&O before and the ladies wear lovely ball gowns so you will look the part if you like dressing up! The first cruise we had with P&O i worried i wouldn't take the correct wear and to tell the truth nearly anything goes, i do think though that passengers do make an effort, last year we were with NCL, and that was very layed back, no dressing up atall and i did miss it, (my husband didn't!). Hope you enjoy your cruise, i will probably write when i get back so if you want to know anymore ,do ask,----Angie S.

Artemis is quite a formal ship, however.
