It is ok, wear a white jacket outside the tropics if you want, but please not with a black shirt and white tie! Traditionally, what people are referring to as a "white" dinner jacket is ivory in colour.
Lots of people wear them in the Med. and anywhere else for that matter. We were on QE2 in AUG/sept and white DJ's were strongly in evidence.
I still wear mine in the Med. Regards Wilba.
Once you are past Gibraltar white DJ is fine----following from the old Army rule that you went into tropical kit at that point!!!Mind you, I have seen plenty worn in the UK in Summer and being an old traditionalist, I dont really like that. (OK maybe I should have said"old fuddy-duddy!!)Cynthia.
We are going to the Canaries for Christmas on Oriana, husband is taking white dinner jacket as well as black dinner suit.
Thanks for all the help, wish I hadn't asked 'cos it'll take space that could be put to good use--------more clothes for me!!
We went to the Baltics on Arcadia, and men had white D J's on so I imagine anything goes.
