Thanks for your response and no, it is not a question it is a statement as many 1st time cruisers will not know that there is only Formal and Smart Casual nights in the Caribbean as the Pre Cruise Information brochure we received states there is formal, Semi Formal and Smart Casual for our Cruise in the Caribbean so that can Confuse people and I would not have known it if I had not phoned up P&O for a different matter and the person on the phone menationed there was only Formal and Smart Casual nights. If she had not mentioned that We would have had to pack a suit as well as my husbands Tuxedo so doing without a suit to pack is less chance of being over the baggage weight as Ingle kindly pointed out. I was only trying to warn 1st time cruisers like myself that there is no need for a suit to be packed as well as a Tux. I did not know where else to put this message.

Neil & Ida Down - Answered a Question by Carnegie (23 Sep 08 23:52)

Several things spring to my mind (apart from the fact that there is no question here, just a statement) 1. Maybe the airconditioning on Ventura is not good enough or it's cheaper to run it on half throttle. 2. Smart casual for me means I wear a jacket and tie anything else is casual. 3. Four formal nights means they can expect more work in the laundry room 4. P & O are trying to upgrade the status of their passengers by insisting they do not accept casual casual dress (or undress) Confused.... Neil.

Ingle - Answered a Question by Carnegie (24 Sep 08 05:55)

P&O abandoned semi formal on Caribbean fly cruises about a year ago as it helps to reduce baggage weight. Smart casual as defined by P&O is " Stylish resort or leisurewear is ideal, for example casual separates, dresses or smart jeans for ladies and open-neck shirts, polo shirts and trousers or smart jeans (not shorts) for men. Men are not required to wear jackets on Smart Casual nights. We would request that sportswear, (e.g. trainers, tracksuits) are not worn in the evenings." .

Thanks for explaining Ingle. It certainly is a relief at not having to pack 2 jackets. I was a bit6 worried at the weight of the case but with just Tux it will be lighter and more room in it. I suppose if we were nsailing from Southampton it would not be a problem but after holidays in the Med numerous times we choose the Caribbean first because it will be warmer and get the sun for a change as we are sun starved after having a summer like this.
