Done 2 red white and blue nights with fred olsen. They provided us with flags and hats. All you have to take is white trousers or slacks. (or even cream) Red or blue shirts in fact anything that will mix and match with these colours. I wore (female) white trousers red blouse and a blue chiffon scarf. Other half wore cream trousers blue short sleeve shirt and a red bow tie. You will love it! Dont worry!

Many passengers don't bother to dress up for theme nights on Fred. Olsen vessels. Therefore if you wish to dress up for British don't over the top or you will feel out of place. I just don a Union Jack tie and my partner drapes a Union Jack scarf over her shoulders.

In my experience people go from the full thing - glitzy Union Jack dress or coat for gents - to just the three colours down to not bothering at all. Anything goes, just enjoy!

We had a Red White & Blue night on The Black Watch it was great fun, just wear anything in those colours ie. blue trousers, white shirt & red tie etc. We didn't know about it when we sailed but good old Fred supplied us with Union Jack flags U J bow ties and U J bowler hats, all the crew were dressed up too so you will not be out of place. The crew formed an improptu choir and sang patriotic songs like Rule Britannia & Jerusalem just like the Last night of the Proms. Have fun.

One never knows what might be sprung on a cruise and you cannot always have a spare suitcase full of Fancy Dress clothes unless you are a fanatic. Like the previous writer, the round Britain cruise on Balmoral included a RWB night, I happened to have a RWB shirt fresh from M & S and a red tie. My wife had red blouse, white trousers and blue scarf. Most people entered into the spirit and with Fred olsen union jacks to wave and patriotic songs in the Theatre after dinner, we had a Last Night at the Proms experience.

A Lovely holiday for all the f...

By Silvana Hollinrake

Me, my husband and my two children have just returned from a long weekend away in Southampton and on the Celebrity EclipseThe cruise was only two nights so I though to extend our little holiday by spending two nights in Southampton before the sailing and take them to a theme park. So we took them to Poulton Park which I highly recommend to families with young children. Great for 2 years old and up to the age of 6 yrs. Here we saw Peppa pig at Peppa pig’s world where all the themed attra...

The M1 Out of sight out of mind!

By Marie Turner

Marie Turner's blog

‘Most have heard of the M1 , that long South-North motorway that connects London to Leeds, but did you know that on a cruise ship they have ther very own “M1”. This is the central busy hub under the passenger decks which cruise members use to make their way round the ship, and on our recent trip on the brand New Majestic Princess we were welcomed to the M1 for an exclusive www.CRUISE.co.uk tour. This eye opening tour was simply mind boogling the amount of people down their...

I cannot believe how quickly my little Norway trip has come around, It’s almost time!On 25th May, I am off on a 5 night fjords cruise on the Brilliant Balmoral. This will be my third cruise on this ship and I just love the Balmoral and Fred Olsen the most! This trip will be what Fred Olsen are known for, based on the Norwegian heritage they say nobody does the Fjords better than Fred!Being a 26 year old cheap means I am certainly not a typical Fred Olsen guest, they tend to attract an ...
