We went on the Xmas/New Year cruise. Much to our astonishment, there were only 2 formal nights (24 December and 1 January - not Christmas Day or New Year's Eve!) - our table and a few others decided that we'd go formal anyway for New Year's Eve! We were on second sitting, and people certainly dressed up most nights - even on casual nights, people were well turned out. One tip - do make the cruise line aware that it's your anniversary and birthday and you'll get a cake for both occasions, and a mention in the daily newspaper, which makes a lovely souvenir!

We sail from Tilbury on Feb 17, a date which includes my birthday and our 41st wedding anniversary. Have a nice holiday in March.

We found that on Marco Polo the dress code is 'suggested' not enforced however those in the main restaurant who had not 'dressed up' definately looked out of place. We did this cruise on the sister ship earlier & thoroughly enjoyed it.

We did the same cruise in March this year,it was a wonderful trip,we seen the Northern lights on 4 nights,We did the Huskies and Snowmobiles and stayed in the Joanna Lumley Ice Hotel for 1 night ( we did arrange this ourselves on line before we went )has no-one from the ship would pay the cost of that which was quite expensive, but well worth it, there is some good excursions the zoo is excellantin Narvick It snowed quite heavy for few days and it was like travelling through a Xmas card it was very beautiful We have been on the Marco Polo quite a few times and people do get dressed for dinner that is why people cruise,BUT there is a nice self service Marco.s where you dont have to get dressed up.its the same food has the Waldorf Restaurant.a lot of people still get dressed up for the self service

There are 2 formal nights, eight informal nights and four casual nights on their 14 night cruises (please see their website: http://www.cruiseandmaritime.com/before-you-sail/index.aspx to download the pre-sailing booklet. I don't believe the dress code is strictly enforced.

I can't speak for how many nights there will be but I would have thought 3 or 4. I was on a Marco Polo 4 night minicruise out of Tilbury last month and we had one formal night. I would say all but a handful bothered to dress up and I would guess about 60% of men wore a dj - the bulk of the remainder wearing a suit and tie.
