Q: We are going on a Celebrity cruise in the Caribbean in March. Can anyone advise what proportion of men wear dinner jackets for the formal dinners on these ships?
(We have previously been on Fred Olsen ships, where it is some 90% or so.)

We have just done a 14 day cruise on Constellation which had 3 formal nights and estimate that more than 70% of men wore DJ's to the main dining room, others wore dark suits/jackets. We did not notice any casual dress.

For the two formal nights about 50% were in DJ's and the rest were suited and booted. Just the odd one or two not conforming.

We have been on two Celebrity cuises and found the Americans don't like conforming to dress codes, which is very anoying, I would say less than 50%.

Wear your D J and you will be with the majority, you will often get the odd one in odd clothes and if you want to be odd, try that, I wouldn't recommend it. ....Neil

Celebrity is a pretty formal cruise line. The Americans I find - and thank goodness too - like to abide by the designated dress code. In my experience I would say that on formal nights 95%+ will be wearing dinner jackets. Enjoy. .... Harvey
