Q: We are doing a med cruise on Insignia in Sept. Does anyone know if they allow later disembarkation. We have a late evening departure from Venice. 5 answers

I can't speak for your particular cruise, but it's a commonly asked question. It's no different to an aeroplane. It lands, unloads, refuels, a quick wizz with a 'hoover', reloads & gets on it's way again. The security issues to allow people to stay on board whilst they reload would be insurmountable.

thanks so much Wilba. When one looks at it from that angle it's quite understandable why they like you off asap.

We were on Navigator a few weeks ago on a back 2 back, so we stayed on board during changeover. The last family left the ship at 0940hrs after numerous calls to 'clear the ship'. They were called off by name in a 'no nonsense' manner. At 1055 a call went out for 'all crew standby to accept passengers' & at 1100 exactly the new passengers started walking up the gangway. Incredible that 3000 people disembarked & 1hr 20 mins later they are reloading & the bar staff are serving new faces.

I've already booked for vip lounge at marco polo, so that should take care of a couple of hours and we'll possibly do a tour. Thanks anyway for your help. Where did you go when on navigator and what did you think of the ship (i'm assuming you wont mind taking the time to come back to me!!). We did a mini from southampton to cork on independence, but felt it was toooo big. I believe insignia carries about 600 passengers so we will find a big difference. Have you cruised any of the smaller ships?

Hi! I've done Navigator & other Voyager Class Ships before & have never found them to be overcrowded in either, Self Service, Royal Prom or Deck Space, like the comments written about the Indy. From what I can deduce the facilities on the Indy i.e. eateries, ice rink, sun lounger space, etc. appear to be the the same size as Voyager Ships but with a lot more passengers crammed in, trying to use the same space. As for smaller ships, this was my 60th cruise, so over the years I've done big, small & everything in between. I've not done any 'O' Ships but have only heard/read good reports, so you should be in for a 'good one' Regards Wilba
