RCI normally start boarding at about 1100am in the Med. If your travelling independently I would get there about this time before the cruise flights arrive.....Wilba .

Having crusied with RCL many times when flying out to Europe the representative meets you at the airport and takes you to your bus and then straight to the ship, so really an excellent service. This year we are going on the Brilliance (one of our favourite ships) out of Barcelona and our flight ex Heathrow is due to arrive at 13.10 so we expect to be on the ship by at least 2.30, and being diamond members we get seperate check in etc and usually takes about 15 mins at the most. It is worth with this line to do your check in on line and that saves time as well, The quickest we have board was in September 2008 on the Independence of the Seas at Southampton, we arrived at 10.30 am, because the boat show was on and we were in our cabin and had received all our luggage by 1,30pm was quick. This line seems to arrive in port earlier and the disembarkation is well orgainised and that enables you to board earlier, but be awarethat they usually keep all the corridors locked until 1.00pm.

We did this cruise last year. We had booked our own flights and hotel in Venice, we stayed there for 3 days before the cruise. If you are doing the same thing, it is really easy, we were onboard by 12:30. There was a courtesy coach at the back of the bus station next to the train station. You have to look for the coaches, they were all over by the back ( some people could not find them and got taxis instead). You just have to be careful to get on the right one, there was a coach for RCI, Princess, Costa and one other, there were 4 ships in port the day we left. We were at the station just before 12:00, it was a 5- 10 minute journey, there was no queue at check in and within half an hour we were on the ship. When we came back , we used the courtesy coach to get back to the bus station. Our flight was not until early evening so we left our bags in the left luggage office next to the bus staion, it costs about 3 euros a bag for the dayand was secure as it is manned at all times and went into Venice for the rest of the day. The bus to the airport goes from the same place so we collected our bags and got on the bus, again about 3 euros for the 30 minute journey to the airport. You just need to check the bus timetable to make sure you allow enough time to get to the airport, it was all really easy. Good luck, I am sure that you will have a great time. We enjoyed it so much that we are planning to do it again.

Thank you for all the information. We wonder if you can help on another matter? Did you arrive back in Venice at 5am as we are scheduled to do and, if so, what time did you disembark? We have arranged our own flights to and from Verona as we have visited Venice before. We would be grateful for your help.

Hi, we got back early, I am not sure what time it was. Royal Caribbean get everyone off the ship quite early, we were definately off by 09:00, I think some people were getting off before 06:00. If you need to get off early you can carry your own luggage and more or less leave as soon as the ship has been given clearance. I hope this is of some help to you.

Hi - We did this cruise a couple of years ago, we stayed in Venice for two days before hand - which was well worth it and then arrived in plenty of time to board - expecting to wait - ushered straight onto the ship and sent for lunch while the rooms were finished. It was a wonderful cruise - make sure you get up early to watch it come back into Venice - if the weathers good its a magical sight. Have a fab time.

Yes and if its the 16th May we are on the same cruise, I've not left from Venice before, but from experience arrive around noon or leave it until an hour before departure(just before 4pm), it shouldn't be too tough. Its fairly standard not to be allowed to your cabin until 1pm. As below I also recommend doing the online check in and look at tours etc.. even if you dont book the RCI ones it can give you an idea of things you may want to organise. We are seasoned RCI cruisers including this class, looking forward to this...
