There isn't any room service on OV 1 or 2 but there is a kettle/cups/tea/coffe etc in your cabin. There is also a fridge so it's easy to have a good supply of cold drinks. Whenever we came back from a really exhausting trip (like Rome) we would pick up cakes/cookies/chocolate covered strawberries from Charlies and take them back to our cabin to consume with ice cold coke.

Hi cruised last April and going again this. Have been on other cruise lines (this is our 10th cruise). We go on OV for the ports of call. OV1 was clean with large cabins. Tea and coffee facilities in room. Didn't order rome service but sure you could. Don't recall bath robes. We didn't like the self-catering but expected that as we like waiter service. Paid extra and went in La Bistro every night. If you like gd food and waiter service would well advise doing this - really good value. Ports of call great - caribbean is always lovely. do all the trips yourself much much cheaper and very easy to do. Can't tell you much about the entertainment as we usually spent time having a meal/drink. OV is not like the big large 5* liners but is good value for the caribbean. Some people did dress v casual in the evening but it is a ship for this - no black ties!! However most people made the effort. Hardly any children on board when we went and we were in the youngest guest ration in our 40s. alot of people were doing the 3 week stint ending up in the med. Think you will have a good time. Go with an open mind this is what it says a cruise for peolple who don't do cruising.

We cruised on OV2 around the Med last May, had a wonderful time, and are going to Caribbean very shortly, again with OV2. There were no bathrobes in our cabins but I expect you can order room service. We frequently dined in La Luna for a small extra charge - great food and waiter service. Buffet dining also good but can be a bit busy at peak times. You need to book La Luna early as it is very popular. Have a smashing holiday.

Anyone for Tea?

By Jo Cunningham

MSC Cruises are taking British cruisers seriously and have announced that British passengers will be able to vote on the brand of kettle that is being placed in all cabins on board the MSC Magnifica.Having a kettle in your cabin has always been important to British cruisers. We are people that enjoy a cup of tea in the morning and do not like having to call (or pay) for room service to bring it. I am frequently being asked if there is a kettle in the cabin and it is only really the British C...

Port Or Starboard? Whats t...

I wish I had a pound for every time I have been asked this question. I could have sailed around the world in Luxury! Aah yes! but would I choose Port or Starboard for my cabin? Or left side versus the right side of the ship?I suppose it depends on where you’re headed. I know that quite a few seasoned cruisers swear by the Starboard side. Although it really depends on what type of cruise you are on.For instance, if you are sailing in one direction, North or West generally people pr...

My NON cruise holiday this Easter.

By Haydn Jones

Haydn Jones's blog

I’ve just come back from a family Easter holiday to Spain, surprisingly not on a cruise this time. My children are of the age where we have to go away during school holidays. We decided on Benalmadena, Spain as we have been before , its not too far, and the boys love it there. The weather was absolutely glorious, we were so lucky this time of year to have 10 days of boiling sunshine. Benalmdena is a town on southern Spain’s Costa del Sol, known for its beaches and the modern Pue...
