We have cruised on armonia last june and dinner will be either at the marco polo restaurant or the pergola - we were in marco polo restaurant and we can say we were very good served. As regards the table for two...make your request when booking if you really insist you want to stay on your own - enjoy your cruise on msc armonia.
Hi! I’m assuming this is your first cruise from the tone of your question so forgive me if I’m teaching you to suck eggs! If your booking was made some time ago you would have been asked for preference of first or second sitting & table size. This choice with all cruise lines is on first come first served basis but normally works out in your favour. If on the other hand this was a recent booking you will be allocated a table on arrival. MSC do this in the booking hall just after check in & prior to actual boarding. Tables for 2 are at a premium on all cruise ships so I wouldn’t hold your breath if that is your absolute priority, but I think most would agree with me here, if you can’t get a 2, go for an 8 as there will almost certainly be people among that 8 who you will engage with. We normally travel in family groups of 6 or 8 so we always get a table to ourselves, but on the occasions we travel as a couple we always request to be on a large table as we have always had a more convivial dining experience by doing so. Good Luck .
Hello, Wilba and many thanks for your reply. I have read a number of your responses and have always found them informative and helpful, especially those concerning the MSC'experience'. This will in fact be my 13th cruise, having cruised previously with Costa, NCL, Princess, Oceania, Voyages of Discovery and Orient Lines (now defunct, I think). We chose this MSC cruise because of price and destinations. In the past, when on 'fixed' dining, we have sat at tables for 6 and 8 and enjoyed the experience (I agree with you that 8 is a better number). However, we have found that we prefer 'anytime' dining and have been lucky enough to get tables for 2. I accept that it is not so easy with 'fixed' dining and although we did request late sitting and a table for 2 with MSC some time ago, I won't hold my breath'. I will let you know how it went.
Hi! Sorry if I thought you were a 'Novice' it's just the way it read (to me anyway). I suppose your aware their is no 'alternative buffet' so it's not so easy to escape if your table mates aren't up to scratch & an even worse problem for those with kids on a late sitting, unlike most other lines. Price, destinations + time of year were my reasons for a second bite with MSC & given the same options would probably do it again. Have a good one...Wilba.
We met a couple and they had been given a table for 8 and the manners of the other guests and the fact they all arrived at different times was spoiling there cruise I spotted a table for two not being used and we got them allocated to that and all was fine on another ocassion the couple we met with a similar problem we got on well with them so got a table for 4 and gave up out table for two and we had a great 2 weeks with them so there can be options but hopefully you will find a happy solution to yours and enjoy your cruise. My motto is if you don't ask you don't get and be politely persistant.
Many thanks for your reply. We have sat at tables for 6 and 8 and have been lucky enough to get on with most of the people. I agree however that it can be tedious waiting for everyone to be served, especially as I tend only to eat a couple of courses. That is why I prefer to have a table for 2. We have in the past been fortunate to get our chosen option but will heed your advice if not!
