most cruise lines do offer two and four seater tables but there are not a lot of them about, i have seen quite a few on fred olsen ships and not all of them were taken, but you would probably have to request this at booking, if you find you are allocated a large table you can always ask the maitre d if its possible to change, but give the large table a chance first you may be pleasantly supprised

My husband and I have just returned from cruising Alaska with RCI and we managed to get a fabulous table for 2 next to the window in the main dining room having originally been seated on a table of 10. All you need to do if your request isn't met at the outset is to see the MD (time given for this when you board) - do it as soon as possible. There is also my time dining and speciality restaurants at which you can book a table for 2 but these are charged at approx £12 per person extra. I have found these to be excellent and well worth the money (Portofinos and Chops Grill) on every RCI cruise I have done. Enjoy your cruise.

Suggest you ask the maitre'd at the beginning of your cruise; explain that you are unable (or unwilling) or both to eat with other people. Not everyone enjoys the enforced cameraderie one gets with cruising, and lets be perfectly honest, one does not wish to be bored to sobs every night listening to other people waffle on about their day! I'm being brutally honest here. I decided many cruises ago that actually, I simply did not want to eat with people I do not know - as this is supposed to be a civilised pastime I refused to pass the time with other people who sometimes left their table manners behind. Stuck up? perhaps, but I am the customer and I have paid for my hoilday...

Hello, Princess line - main restaurants often have tables for 2; the Horizon Court buffet you take what table you can and share if needs be; I'm a single traveller so like sharing with others.
