When we went last year, the first cruise after the troubles, they took any currency's, euro, dollars pounds sterling . There wasn't any opportunties other than the boat itself to change money. Please make sure you have plenty of Hand gel Enjoy all the boat sellers !!!!

You will probably not have much time on the excursions to change money. I agree with the comments made already. We also find single US dollar bills useful for baksheesh, shoe shine etc.I get mine from Thomas Cook. The Nile is fantastic. Enjoy.

Having just returned they will take euros - local currency and stirling- there is a shortage of small notes however in local currency so would recommend you take some small notes and £ coins for tips etc

As well as Egyptian currency, take pound coins with you, as these are what they ask for quite a lot, for a handful of postcards or whatever! You presumably get all your meals included, so you are not going to need a lot of currency, so just get some before you go and don't worry too much about the exchange rate. For a small amount, it will make very little difference. You certainly don't want to do it at the airport in Egypt, when everybody is waiting for you on the coach!

It is always better to change money in the country of origin, but an airport!!!! I have yet to see a great rate offered at any airport across the world. Use a bank or Bureau De Change whilst you are over there. If you have any spare US Dollar or Euro they are widely accepted. Personally I would change as little as poss. as their money is filthy dirty, you need a pair of Marigolds and a bottle of hand cleaner if you are going to handle any amount of their paper money..............Wilba

Wherever you exchange your money try to make sure you get some REALLY small notes. You will need a good supply for buckshees and when using loos. Have a wonderful time. Jacquie

Depends which airport.I wouldn't chance the Egyptian exchanges. Travelex is usually competitive if the currency is pre ordered and picked up before you fly. http://travelmoney.moneysavingexpert.com/holiday-money/#results is a good site to compare for travel currency.
