All RCCI cruises price, and charge, in $US. But as all charges are added to your "sea pass" card it does not really matter. No where on board accepts cash. It is worth checking with your credit card provider what their charges for currency conversion are as your sea pass is normally settled in $US. Best deal I have found is with a Nationwide credit card. Hope this helps Peter.

Thanks Peter. That ties in with what I thought. I know that all charges are made to your seapss card and was fairly certain that it was always in dollars, but was confused when I read in the Berlitz guide that the RCI ships cruising from UK charged in sterling. Obviously that would be good, if it were true, as there would be no exchange rates and you would know exactly how much you were spending. Laura.

Does this mean you need dollars to tip room service or can you use sterling?

Any tip in any currency is always greatly received. Most of the staff seem to prefer $US as they know what that is worth in their own currency. We have tipped in $US $AUS and sterling and no one minded. With RCCI a lot of prople pre-pay gratuities, check your booking to see if you have. Regards Pete.

I will give everyone a tip !! keep check of your account on the tv in your cabin , we cruised recently and kept finding items added on ie mini bar when we hadent used it !! others on board also reported items added on as well i also added extra tips on bills in casino to waitress and afterwards even when i had not added it on they still appeared !!! so do watch out and report it stright away ! one passenger found $500 had been added to her account ! and the one to beat all ! halfway into the cruise we paid $600 off our account to find that it had not been deducted but added ! ench account now read $1200 so do watch out you have been warned !

Five Of My Favourites !

By Camilla Edwards

Well its very nearly Christmas and all I wish for now is some snow! Walking the dog this morning everywhere was frosty and white, made me really feel in the festive spirit. One of the best things personally at this time of the year is the food and celebrations associated with Christmas and New Year, so this week I have decided to blog about 5 of my favourite places to eat. Some on cruise ships, some not.Fed Olsen Balmoral. I always enjoy the food on Fred`s ships and Balmoral last year was no...

My final update on my recent trip on Independance of the seas is all about my dining experience.I can honestly say I was not disappointed with one meal I had.You can literally eat 24 hours a day. The group was on second sitting which was 8.30 in the main dining room The Romeo and Juliet. The choice in there was great something for everyone and the staff were very attentive and gave us their recommendations at every meal. Also in here you can have A la Carte Breakfast from 7.30am to 9.30am an...

Calling all Small Ship Lovers.

By Nicola Milligan

Nicola Milligan's blog

Cast your mind back to 2015. and the sad news when P & O told us that the much loved 710 passenger adult only ship ADONIA was leaving their fleet.Lots of the small ship lovers were devastated as so many huge new ships were coming onto the market leaving a vast hole for the smaller more intimate ships. We were told she was joining Fathom Cruises a line that enables guests to do something good to help out poorer countries. So Volunteers through tourism can help locals learn English and build...
