You have no option as all payments are charged in $US. You may be cruising in Europe but Princess Currency is $US wherever it is in the world.
Sorry Wilba but your reply is not wholy correct. If you have a sizeable on board account, several thousand dollars say, then Princess will try to encourage you to let them convert the account to sterling. Don't fall for this as your credit card exchange rate will better theirs hands down.
Yes maybe I read it wrong. I am assuming Mitchell is thinking he/she had the option of paying in EURO or Dollar, so I based my response on that & it's fair to add that you can pay in cash $US only. Sorry if I'm confused, it's an age thing. Regards.
I think you will find that it is the US dollar which is weak and the Euro which is strong!
I think you will find that the US dollar is weak and the Euro is strong. If you have a Euro credit card that would be the one to use.
What we did a few weeks ago on sea princess was we regestered our credit card but every few days we went to the pursers desk and asked for a print out of our account and paid in dollars cash what was charged to our account this way you know what your spending is and if you convert your sterling to dollars in your local bank e.t.c. you only are charged for one exchange rate we also had took euro with us for using on the ports of call. there is a machine on the ship which will convert your money but the exchange rate was awful.also something you might like to know is to use the phone in your sateroom is $4.95 per min your mobile phone will pick up a signal when close to shore but not out at sea. enjoy your cruise the sea princess is beautiful and the staff are fantastic make sure you do afternoon tea the staff serve you wearing white gloves a silver service just heaven!
At the end of the day your best deal is going to be by paying in dollars with a Nationwide Credit Card. No conversion charges and the inter-bank exchange rate is applied, not tourist rates. If you do not have one, nows the time. Enjoy your cruise. Richard.
And I thought it was only me who plugged the Nationwide on this site ?
ps the same applies with the Flexaccount Visa Debit Card. Princess and Cunard say it is not acceptable, but it is, I just hand it over for swiping at embarkation and it's no problem. However as a tight Fifer, I do normally tend to prefer to use my Nationwide Credit Card and hold onto my money for a wee bit longer.
Just to confuse you al ittle more ...the US dollar is strenghtening and the Euro weaken against the pound at the moment. ... Neil.
Don't let Princess convert it to GBP. They will give a very bad rate.
When we travelled with Princess in 2006 and 2007, I boiught US$ travellers cheques to take with me. Then every few day I checked my on board statement and paid it with the travellers cheques. At the ned of the 2 week cruis, there was less than $100 to charge
