You may get this twice, my first attempt was blocked, probably because I quoted MSC's web address. ........ For tips, a recommended sum equivalent to about £5 sterling per person per day is added to your on-board account, but you can elect to have this removed at any time during the trip and pay what & how you like...... provided that service is satisfactory its probably best to go with the flow & pay the "recommended" sum via your on-board account. For this & other on-board spend, don't use anything other than ship's currency (transatlantic, so could be euro or USD) - they will convert your Canadian dollars to ship's currency at THEIR exchange rates. Best bet for all on-board spend is to register your credit card to pay your on-board account in ship's currency & let your credit card convert at a much better rate. .............if you want to also give any discretionary tips to individuals for special service, I'm sure that any currency will be appreciated ......................Chris (it occurs to me that the info I've quoted is from their UK site, best to double-check the site applicable in Ontario, terms do sometimes vary)

I didn't pick up on the tipping policy as far as I remember it is compulsory on MSC ships either by paying in advance or charged to your room account, no opting out here...Bill

The normal currency option is American dollars and as you have Canadian dollars the exchange rate on the ship is not usually very good. So buy American dollars or dollar travellers cheques before you go where you can get the best rate. You can also pay by credit card but make sure it is the credit card company who sort out the exchange to Canadian dollars and not the ship as again you won't get such a good rate and they might even charge a fee for doing it. If you are spending time in the UK you will need the UK pound or in Europe the Euro but you can get around these as above....Bill
