i had my first cruise last year on the Island Escape, both my friend and I would gladly go on that ship again. Fantastic! The crew, the food, the ports of call, just every thing about it was FANTASTIC

Brilliant ship, food perfect, drink prices reasonable, staff fantastic, entertainment 1st class you carnt fault any thomson cruise. only thing wrong with this trip is the airport coming back, so busy and small. thomson great for familys. you should have great time been on 15 thomson cruises and they beat the rest for entertainment.

Thomson have a good reputation but the like of Royal Caribbean are better for families. In particular I would not recommend 'Red Seas Magic' for kids.

I agree with most of what has been said above except to say that the deluxe cabins are spacious (208 sq.ft. ) as opposed to standard which are up to 177 sq.ft. ...and the deluxe cabins have a bath with shower over and a fridge in the cabin. Depends on the age of your children really...I wouldn't think this itinerary is suitabe for the very young as the trips are very long days with long coach journeys....but if they are older from say 10 upwards they may find it very interesting...I know my grand-daughter was very interested in Egyptian history as they were covering it at school....and I did speak to an 11 year old boy on one of our cruises who found it very interesting.

Depends on the age of the kids - Thomson do not recommend their cruises ( their words in their brochure ) for babies and toddlers. I would say they are "ok" for kids aged 4 to 11 - infact the kids club is only for ages up to 12 and I would say that for the more mature 10 / 12 year olds some of the activities which are as exciting as getting the autographs of the crew may not be what they are seeking. Other than the kids club there is no " entertaiment" geared at children. This runs in sessions and does not run permanently all day. Food and cabins are fine for children - babies on ships is never a good idea.If your kids like more activities and a computer games room, ice skating rinks, wave riders, rock climbing walls etc then the Celebration will not appeal. However you say you are going to the Red Sea - if you are wanting to see the Pyramids and all the sights eg Petra,Luxor etc then for most of the days you all will be off the ship - I am not suggesting you would do this but no one is allowed to leave children in the kids club whilst the parents get off the ship.I make this point as you state entertainment during the day. For the benefit of others reading this nor can you leave your kids with other adults whilst you,the parents, get off the ship, even if it is just to look around the stall at the quayside at Port Sokhna for 5 minutes.Hope that gives you some guidance.

Agreed. And the main trips - Petra (2hrs e/w), Cairo (90mins minimum) and Luxor (3 hrs+), can only sensibly be done by ship's coaches. So it depends just how keen your kids are on these places. .........There will be a limited number of other kids on this cruise, as it tends not to appeal to families. ........... food is good in the main dining room (not desperately formal, but smart casual - Tshirts etc unsuitable, mebbe unacceptable) and food in the Lido buffet is acceptable (dress how you like). ..... daytime entertainment is pretty low-key (most people are off the ship other than the (just one, I think) sea day. Evening entertainment is surprisingly good for such a small ship (as on other Thomson's) but again not really geared for kids - musicals, etc. in the theatre, + dancing/disco or live background music in the bars. .................. cabins are fairly basic, not large but very acceptable ............... its a good cruise. But is it suitable for you? .........Chris
