We went on the Grand Princess and we all thought it was great. The bars do get pretty full but we always managed to get a seat. The food was great on that ship and would recommend it to anybody. We have done a lot of cruises and I think that one was one of our best. Hope you enjoy it too.

We did the Grand Princess in July 2009 and sailed full (3000) passengers. The worst part of the cruise was in the Southampton sheds before embarkation. Check in took ages because of the sheer numbers and getting through the security scanners took forever. We were quite fraut by the time we set foot on the boat but soon chilled out. I found that it was quite difficult to get a sun bed on sea days but it wasn't impossible. The Horizon Court was a bit restricted at breakfast but again, not impossible to find a table and we learnt to eat outside 'normal' British eating times and so avoid the crowds. Kids running about the decks at night were a nuisance but we got used to it - a well timed comment or a severe look usually did the trick!! But we'd go back again this afternoon if we could. It's a great ship so enjoy every minute of it Eileen

It's a big ship and the only places you'll see get busy are the breakfast buffet , the sundecks round the pools and the theatre .There's no quoits or shuffleboard areas.

We sailed on Grand Princess last Summer & on "Sea Days" there was that age old problem of insufficient sunbeds or even chairs to sit on. Very annoying indeed to see your family having to lay on towels on the few inches of spare deck space available......Hope that answers your question???

Hi, We sailed on the Grand Princess in mid july 2010 & it was packed. We hadn't realised it was during the Scottish school holidays. Restaurants didn't seem to get busy, but the Horizon Court buffet area was always busy, as were the pools. Loved the ship, but would go at a different time of year in future.

Hi when we went on the grand princess the only time it felt crowded was on boarding, other than that it is a large enough ship for it to seem fine. It always amazed us how many people were actually on board. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Only thing is it spoils you for any other cruise lines afterwards as they are sooo good!! :)

Hi there, --Well. we sailed on Grand Princess last October and didn't find crowding a problem, in fact we had a wonderful cruise--despite a couple of days rough weather in the Med! We sail with PRINCESS quite a lot, and will continue to do so. Hope you decide to go--and if you do --have a GREAT CRUISE!!!!

Hi, I am sailing on the Grand in June and wanted to ask you whether you found the shore excursions worth doing. Also, do you know if you can tip as you go along rather than them apply it automatically to my account.
Answer by Millman, Warrington (30 Jan 12 14:26) to a QUESTION by Christou (30 Jan 12 11:12)
you can go to the pursors desk on the first day, and ask for your automatic tips ( $12.00 per day per person) to be stopped, and then tip who you think at the end of the cruise. the shore excursions seemed expensive to me , and we prefered to sort our own excursions out once ashore. eg a trip to Pisa was about $70 each, but we went by local bus and train at a cost of 15 euros for both of us. and its more of an adventure
